PASSION POWERED BY BRUTE FORCE: THAT OF THE 4.2 LITRE MASERATI V8
The beating heart of the Maserati GranTurismo is its 4.2 litre V8 engine: the progenitor of a new generation of engines, it incorporates technical features that ensure power and speed, typical of the racing engines from which Maserati has always drawn its inspiration. Emitting a deep growl at low rpm, the engine's roar is fearsome as it comes to a crescendo and sends a genuine shiver down the spine at the highest revs.
ULTRA-RESPONSIVE GEARBOX THAT MAKES FULL USE OF ALL THE ENGINE'S POWER
The Maserati GranTurismo's hydraulic transmission makes full use of all of the engine's power: the auto-adaptive automatic gearbox delivers top performance at low and medium engine speeds without restricting power at high rpm and allows gear shifts to be postponed to up to 7.100 rpm, higher revs than almost any other automatic transmission in the world. There are four operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Auto ICE and Manual.
WELL-BALANCED WEIGHTS GUARANTEE OUTSTANDING HANDLING
The Maserati GranTurismo is a thoroughbred sports car with exciting potential that can be enjoyed in safety, delivering unforgettable thrills. Behind all this is the exceptionally rigid frame and the unusual layout of the wishbone suspension, not to mention the perfect weight distribution: 49% of the weight rests on the front axle and the other 51% on the rear.
SUPERCAR STOPPING DISTANCES WITH POWERFUL BREMBO BRAKING SYSTEM
The Brembo braking system features four ventilated discs (disc diameter and thickness: 330 mm x 32 mm at the front and 330 mm x 28 mm at the rear respectively). The calipers have four pistons of different diameters with ceramic isolating linings; the 4-channel ABS has electronically controlled braking distribution (EBD) integrated into the exclusive Maserati Stability Program.
Maserati GranTurismo Sport
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS BROADEN THE HORIZONS OF SPORTS DRIVING
Driving the Maserati GranTurismo Sport on the road will broaden your horizons when it comes to sports driving. The car is the outcome of a vast array of significant changes made by the Maserati engineers to the engine, suspension and gearbox. All with a single objective in mind: to establish the best combination of features in order to give the owner a car even closer to perfection, from every point of view.
MECHANICS AHEAD OF THEIR TIME
The GranTurismo Sport 4.7L V8 engine stands out for its silent running, performance and reliability. An engine that inherits the mechanical sophistication which has always been a Maserati hallmark, united with numerous innovative solutions such as the special DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) finish used for the tappets and camshaft lobes, an innovation that significantly reduces friction.
THE DRIVER SETS THE OUTPUT LEVEL
The engine's 460 horsepower changes personality to match the situation: from the discreet purr of urban driving to the powerful thrilling roar of sporty driving on the open road. The choice is in the driver's hands: he can set the output level by pressing the Sport button. Most of the 520 Nm of torque is available over a wide range of engine speeds for an outstandingly smooth ride.
ZF AUTOMATIC GEARBOX CONTROLLED BY THE EXCLUSIVE MC AUTO SHIFT SOFTWARE
The ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox with hydraulic torque converter guarantees an even more comfortable ride with no reduction in performance. The transmission is controlled by the MC Auto Shift software, with rev limiter override, double declutch and high-performance start function. There are five operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport and Ice.
SUSPENSION FEATURES THE SPORT SKYHOOK ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM
The GranTurismo Sport's double wishbone suspension features a new setup and is controlled by the Sport Skyhook System, which has been specially developed for this version. Pressing the dashboard Sport button makes the car even more precise and responsive without affecting its ability to deal with rough road surfaces, since it continuously adapts to ground conditions.
Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
THRILLING POWER UNDERFOOT
The unmistakable roar that emerges from the exhaust tailpipes is generated by the famed 4.7 litre Maserati V8 engine, here in its top-range version, with a maximum power of 460 HP (338 kW) at 7,000 rpm. The torque, increased to 520 Nm at 4,750 rpm, makes this engine's thrust and elasticity felt at once, while its throaty baritone is underlined by the permanent opening of the by-pass valves in Race mode.
60 MILLISECOND GEAR SHIFTS
While the GranTurismo offers five electronic handling modes, the MC Stradale has three: Auto, Sport and the exclusive “MC Race”. This setup is unique to this model, and is activated by pressing the “Race” button on the dashboard. This is all it takes to make the car even more aggressive and sporty, and the six-speed gearbox allows lightning-fast gear shifts in just 60 milliseconds.
LOWER, SPORTY SETUP
The setting of the MC Stradale's suspensions is 10 mm lower and they have been conceived and developed with the aid of racetrack technology. The springs and dampers have been stiffened to restrict lateral load transfers, while the stabiliser bar diameter has been increased from 24 to 25 mm at the front and from 21 to 23 mm at the rear to reduce the roll angle and gradient and optimise handling.
LIGHTER AND PEERLESS BRAKING DISTANCES THANKS TO BREMBO CARBON-CERAMIC BRAKES
Subjected to the most severe testing on the most famous circuits, the Brembo braking system with carbon-ceramic discs weighs around 60% less than the traditional system with steel discs. The front is equipped with 380 x 34 mm ventilated discs, operated by a powerful six-piston caliper. The rear disks measure 360 x 32 mm, with a four-piston caliper. The stopping distance is just 33 metres at 100 km/h, with an average deceleration of 1.2 g.
