THE SOUL OF THE GRANCABRIO IS POWERED BY A SOPHISTICATED 4.7 LITRE, 450 HP V8
The engine of the Maserati GranCabrio is a 90 degree V8 of 4,691 cm3, which can generate 450 HP at 7,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 510 Nm at 4,750 rpm. This unit uses the same technologies as all Maserati engines to deliver high specific power, smooth response and low running noise.
WITH THE SKYHOOK SYSTEM, THE CAR'S SETUP ADAPTS TO DRIVING STYLE
The car is equipped as standard with aluminium gas dampers with the Skyhook electronic system for automatic, continuous control of damper response: this solution instantly adapts the car's setup to the driving style and road conditions, for the greatest possible comfort. In Sport mode, the suspension has a more rigid setting to reduce roll angles.
QUICK, SMOOTH GEAR SHIFTS
The six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with hydraulic torque converter provides extremely smooth gear shifts, improving the ride without detracting from the sporty power of the V8 engine. There are four operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Auto ICE and Manual. In Manual mode, the gears are selected directly by the driver in sequence using the gear lever or the steering-wheel paddles.
Maserati GranCabrio Sport
AN INNOVATION-PACKED V8 THAT DELIVERS HIGH-TECH THRILLS
The famous Maserati 4.7 litre V8 installed on the GranCabrio Sport is able to deliver 460 HP (338 kW) at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 520 Nm thanks to a series of innovations to optimise its operation. It was designed with important innovations to reduce friction, such as the use of DLC (Diamond-Like Coating) for the tappets and camshaft lobes.
SPECIFIC SUSPENSION SETUP
The GranCabrio Sport's outstanding performance is achieved thanks to a series of special design features, such as the Sport Skyhook suspension with aluminium dampers with continual variation of the damping effect. When the driver presses the Sport key on the dashboard, the car's character is transformed and switches to a more sporty setup specially developed for this version, intended to improve roadholding.
THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAS DRILLED, SLOTTED DISCS FOR EVEN BETTER PERFORMANCE
The Brembo braking system's four discs are machined with four slots and sixteen blind holes around the perimeter. The slots keep the brake pads clean, preventing the loss of efficiency due to dust, and help to break up the flow of water over the surface, while the extra holes ensure uniform wear of the pads and disc to prevent the deterioration of performance over time.
Maserati GranCabrio MC
THE GEARBOX'S MC AUTO SHIFT FUNCTIONS MAKE THE CAR EVEN MORE FUN TO DRIVE
The six-speed automatic gearbox features auto-adaptive software that automatically responds to the driving style and conditions, adapting the gearshifting mode accordingly. It uses MC Auto Shift technology, which operates in a variety of ways depending on the situation, making driving even more satisfying: in manual mode, the gear can be changed at any rpm up to the limiter actuation point.
THE SUSPENSION HAS A SPECIAL SETUP WITH STIFFER DAMPERS
The wishbone suspension system features a specific set-up with more rigid dampers and springs, while the Sport Skyhook system with continuously variable dampers is available as an option. When the Sport button is pressed, the car becomes more precise and reactive, but continues to absorb bumps in the road as it adapts to any conditions. The Maserati Stability Program (MSP) ensures more freedom of action.
INNOVATIVE BREMBO DUAL-CAST BRAKES ENSURE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE
The braking system makes the most of Brembo dual-cast technology with discs crafted from cast iron and aluminium. This brings the weight down by 15% to 20%, whilst also offering enhanced performance and less overall wear. The system comprises six-piston monobloc calipers up front and a four-piston unit in the rear, teamed with drilled, slotted discs: this particular design gives more predictable braking performance and reduces braking distance, especially on wet surfaces.
